This English is about horror writing and the requirements were to write a short horror story that is focused with a room in the school which will create a horror atmosphere using scary horror vocabulary. We were expected to write a horror story where we left our diary at school and remembered at night, so we have to go back to school and try to find it. It took me a week to complete the project as we had five days in school writing a draft and once we got home, I spent 2 hours writing it. It was a single project and no one else had any input to my work.
This piece of work is significant to me, because I love writing stories ever since I was young and this assessment was the first time I wrote a horror story since I HATE horror. It is definitely something that I am proud of because I used great vocabulary and the people that I asked to read it commented that it was scary, so I was proud of myself that I achieved the task of the project. I received a very high grade for it- 10/10 in criterion A, 10/10 in criterion B and 10/10 in criterion C. it is something developmental that helped me reach a new level in the subject, because without it I couldn't have achieved a 7 in the end of term report. I have chosen THIS work for my portfolio because it is something new that I have never done before.
Doing this work has improved me as a learner in the MYP program because I learnt new words which contribute to criterion A and I learnt the proper format of a story with paragraphs. It helped me organize my time and work efficiently. It also demonstrated that I am capable of writing good stories, so now I have more confidence in my work compared to before. Now, with my new knowledge and skills that I gained from this work, I will use it everywhere in and out of school in each subject. This assessment moved me along the path of life, because I learnt t proof- read my work, so that I don’t lose marks for no reason.
